Kayaks, Canoes, Lampshades & Stave Stools
Located 15km from central Hobart, I build small watercraft of all designs and styles to owner’s request
from ultra light weight canoes to easily handled sea kayaks.
Kayak, Canoes and Lampshades – Hobart
I have more than fifteen years of experience in building skin-on-frame design canoes and kayaks concentrating on the F1 kayak design from Cape Falcon Kayaks. I am confident that I can meet any requirements you may have. The skills learned in building canoes and kayaks have led me to design and build a number of indoor lamps. As well as bespoke items I have my own design, my “Pedestal Lamp“.
I have concentrated on the F1 kayak design from Cape Falcon Kayaks, (I run five-day courses to build your own F1 kayak, a design from Cape Falcon Kayaks). These courses can be tailored to your requirements). I have also built 2 pairs of nesting “66” canoes also found at Cape Falcon Kayaks. I have also built a couple of Baidarkas, both single and double, several of the Geodesic Airolite designs found at gaboats.com, Jeff Horton’s Long Shot as per kudzucraft.com and I’ve always been interested in the Percy Blandford “scout” canoes. Venturing outside of my “Art to Use” byline, I carried out an art installation of my rendition of a whaleboat which hangs in the spiral staircase void at Pennicott Wilderness Journey’s visitors center on Bruny Island.
The Stave Stools are a recent addition that I’ve taken on so as to continue to make available this award-winning design by Allan Witt.
Prices vary and I’d much rather talk through whatever you may be thinking of. So get in touch and let’s see what we can work out together.
